Title: Blood drinking is not an irrefeutable symptom of genuine vampirism by default
Post by: maggot man on April 14, 2006, 06:01:49 AM
Dear fellow members of Monstrous, I take my confidence from the belief that like me,  you have had your collective patience put to excrutiating tests of endurance by the relentless hordes of  neophytes that gather here like an oppresive swarm of locusts, threatening to smother our minds with their insistant clamouring that they be regarded seriously as potential ''true'' vampires. Ever found yourself entertaining the question as to what singular set of circumstances could have encouraged them to pursue this patently dubious conclusion? This little article piqued my interest when running cursorily through its contents, I found to my immense satisfaction that it actually offered a recognized name for the psychological ailment that torments both the afore mentioned faux-vampires and the unhappy souls compelled to abandon themselves to the  agony of having to hear the former give vent to adolscent fantasies of the most puerile and insipid nature. Enjoy.

But isn't this a little bit of a chicken and egg situation?  Does this condition exist because they are vampires or is it that they had this condition and so they "became vampires".  Besides, couldn't this also work against true vampires?

The vampiric legacy is believed to be inherited from the said individual's blood-line. It lies dorment and passive, until the time comes when the gift begins to manifest its existence to the one who has hithero carried it all his life in complete obliviousness of its existence within him. Knowing that the vampire in question was always pre-desposed to succumb to the burden of accepting the identity that will ultimately serve to effectively impose powerful barriers that starkly distinguish him from the mainstream of society, we must accept that the vampire exists from the moment of his birth. In this case, the chicken does indeed precede the egg.

As for the second question, their ''awakening'' as both  the initial revelation and the subsequent understanding of their previously concealed  nature  that gradually follows, has come to be termed, is often accompanied by the emergence of powers that some would rightfully deem to be psychic. Wether welcomed or shunned, these recently accquired attributes will linger, though their effect will be severely retarded if a continued refusal to acknowledge them persists. True vampires often find themselves struggling with increduality and disbelief before they are finally forced to conlcude that a rational explanation for the changes assailing them, might in truth, simply not exist. Contrast that with the eagerness of the masses of psudeo  vampires to proclaim themselves the genuine article based on the most flimsy of evidence, and the difference becomes exceedingly clear.

I do not really wish to waste my time explaining all of this again - despite the fact that I believe Maggot Man covered everything as it is.

"Awakening" you say?  I call it pure Hell!! Although not all people who drink blood are vampires,  all vampires need an energy source.  Sometimes blood, sometimes  psi energy,  but most times both can be used to nourish the vampire.  Whether the energy comes from blood or other sources, it must be aquired or the person does not function well.

I give you a TEN for stating the facts as they are known.  The true symptom of vampirism is the undeniable need for energy.

Thanks for your consideration,
