Title: What's your personal symbol? Post by: phyrrestar on December 22, 2006, 01:56:55 PM Many people have something they consider "their" symbol(s), even if it's something quite common. It can be anything from jewelry, an item you carry with you, to simply an image. So what is it that you say represents you? Is there something you always wear or have with you?
I have quite a few symbols that have come to represent me. As far as physical things, I have both my moonstone necklace that is on a moonstone chain as well as my cross from confirmation. I'll usually wear one or the other without taking it off unless absolutely necessary. I also have a few rings that I used to wear everyday, especially my alexandrite ring, but I started to be afraid of losing them so I no longer take them out all the time. When it comes to images, I use a Z with a cross across it and a circle at the base of the cross, a black and/or white wolf, or a silver cross. That's quite a few, but I suppose what I use depends on the circumstances. Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: M Sidhe on December 28, 2006, 07:41:37 PM My image is a blood red M with a yellow background. A black triangle above it pointing down. A horizontlil line on both sides and three vertical lines going down on the bottum with the center line longer than the other two.
http://artpad.art.com/?jb0i865libk Here's a bad picture of it on artpad. The circle inside is supposed to be yellow, but I don't want to go through the trouble to draw it and I can't use this mouse well enough to draw it right. If it says you need some sort of new Flash program hit the back button{SP?} to see it. Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: phyrrestar on December 28, 2006, 08:15:44 PM That site is awesome, I've never seen it before. Here's what I was trying to describe earlier as my own, not nearly as colorful or interesting as M Sidhe's: http://artpad.art.com/gallery/?jb0jrtc8bb8
Nice drawing with a mouse, btw. I'm lucky, I have a drawing tablet to help me out. Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Robigus on December 29, 2006, 11:21:13 PM I've been going through different type of symbols all my life, but most were pertaining to the "organization" as it were (now known as "the Family"). My most constant personal symbol, however, would be the black rose.
Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Lena on January 03, 2007, 12:09:29 PM A fully open bloodred rose is one of mine. For signing my art I use a combination of my initials, where my first and last combine to form the middle. For awhile I used a tengwar L, still do sometimes, but rarely.
Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: tubbs_333 on January 03, 2007, 02:02:10 PM I suppose i have 2 symbols that i like to keep near me the whole time.. The first beeing a St Christopher silver neclace from when i was christened as a babe. I hardly ever take that off, and the other symbol is the red cross od St. George, the english flag. I dont know why but it gives me a great sence of security when i see the flag flying or hanging somewhere.
Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Moloch on January 03, 2007, 07:09:25 PM As a young teen I discovered the "X-MEN" comics and identified with the concept very powerfully. So much so that I took their symbol as my own and now have it tattooed on my inner left forearm. Mine is a black circle with the 'X' inside it, and the triangular parts withing the circle colored red.
Sometime soon I hope to have the Kanji for 'Shadow' tattooed on me as well, since I also strongly identify with that concept. Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Zak Roy Yoballa on January 05, 2007, 01:27:40 PM I've always been found of the "chaos arrows" but wouldn't go so far as to say it is my personal symbol.

Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Bloody Angel on January 19, 2007, 07:38:25 AM I'm extremely fond on the icons portraying both the sun and the moon (either separately or together).
I have quite a big one I carry permanently as it is a tattoo showing both on my backbone. To me they have a very special meaning: they do remind me of my split personality as well as of all opposites (night and day, cold and hot, dark and bright side, goodness and wickedness, extroversion and introversion, etc). Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: luminar on January 30, 2007, 10:22:24 AM i designed a symbol a while ago it is a wolfs head in a howling at the moon angle and occasionily ill put a moon and star in it too. its really cool if i can find a scanner ill try to upload it as my avatar.

Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Thundergod on September 23, 2007, 10:40:19 PM I have always loved dragons, once had a necklace i wore for about 4 years straight only taking it off to shower and stuff, i even wore it under my football pads. i lost it. my luck has gone downhill since. but other than the dragon there is Thors hammer. these two are kinda less personal when it comes to my identification. i have a symbol i like to draw idk where i got it but have been drawing it for years. it is basically a cross with arms the decline in size. i then keep on drawing and adding on sometimes so that the end shape looks like some sort of bug armor. symbolically i identify with dogs the most. and seem to always have ravens or crows following me. i love rune stone symbols as well, most elder fathark.
most of all my favorite symbol is the ying yang white and black traditional. it represents me personally in evry aspect. if i could get a tattoo i would get that probably on my back. then 1 half on each forearm, another one on my chest, and opposite of forearms on my legs. just so everything is even hahaha. Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Seth on October 01, 2007, 10:40:35 AM my symbol is a crescent moon with a tribal flame in the center. i made it up for one of the rp games i've gotten into, but it represents the elements that are me.
Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Kadesh on October 15, 2007, 09:46:12 PM Mine seems to be stones, bones, and wood.... earthly things. To explain.. I once found a branch in the shape of a cross... I had to have it/keep it. HAD to. Same with the moss agate stone I wear on a necklace. I was just drawn to both of these. I've picked up various rocks, stones, & crystals since I was a small child. And bones because I'm facinated by them. They represent a puzzle that needs figuring out. As far as symbols go... I believe mine is bear tracks. Set slightly apart, like the bear is walking & just the front feet. I'm going to have them tattooed on me.... somewhere. lol. I've finally setteled on a tatt and it turns out it was nothing I ever thought of.

Post by: MetalDragoness on March 19, 2008, 11:46:34 PM <^> That one works, but also Dragons and anything celtic, like celtic knots and of course pentacle pentagram whatever you want to call it, not the inverted one. Would love a cool design that integrates them all

Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: rave phillaphia on March 21, 2008, 05:12:18 PM I think mine would have to be this silver cross with a saphire stone in the middle that my mom bought me for x-mas one year. It makes me feel protected.
Another symbol I feel represented by is the star or heart. I never noticed it until one day I was looking at my bed and room and they are everywhere. The last symbol I associate with is the hachetman *<:) %&$ I got mad clown love and juggalo family for life. Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? I've finally setteled on a tatt and it turns out it was nothing I ever thought of. I posted that in this thread, but I've been thinking.... how, exactly, do you know what your symbol is? What if I just had indigestion that day and it made the bear tracks feel right? Do I follow my gut/intuition? Or is it a deeper meaning that can't be explained? Or is there a posting somewhere that says "this is your symbol"? lol Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Nina on May 17, 2008, 11:06:09 AM True, its hard to say what is your symbol just cause you like something. Usually, it takes a lot of work (spiritual and both mental) to find out what ones personal symbol is. Symbols that belong to one person come in visions and dreams, in state of trance and deep pray.... just cause one person likes svastika for example, doesnt mean that is the right symbol for them, the symbol of their oversoul. Symbol is just like a name that you have, only it is stuck with your soul and not body.... some people here are too young maybe to know what Im talking about.
If you are talking only about symbols that you like and maybe feel some connection with, it would be better to check "Whats your tatoo" topic or something like that. Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Raziel on May 17, 2008, 06:44:41 PM so.... we can post more than once?

Very true and don't worry I'm not going to tell you guys my personal symbol I don't like you that much  Just kidding Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Kadesh on May 19, 2008, 01:03:18 PM But if it's the symbol of your soul.. shouldn't you have a connection with it? As I was saying, I have a connection with the earth... nature, animals, rocks, and some wood. But that isn't really a symbol... now I'm correcting myself. Great. I just get crazier with each post. Sheesh! ... Hmm... It appears that I don't have one like I thought....

Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Raziel on May 19, 2008, 07:32:23 PM sig·il [síjjəl]
(plural sig·ils) noun 1. seal: a seal or signet 2. magical sign: a sign or image that is supposed to have magical power [15th century. < late Latin sigillum "sign, trace, (in medieval Latin) seal," singular < Latin sigilla "small images" < signum "mark, sign"] -sig·il·la·ry [si jílləree], adjective Microsoft® Encarta® 2007. © 1993-2006 Microsoft Corporation. Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Kadesh on May 20, 2008, 09:53:25 PM But magical items only have the power you give them. So if I have something that I feel a connection with, I could have it 'blessed' as it were. And it would become mine alone.
Title: Re: What's your personal symbol? Post by: Raziel on May 21, 2008, 04:03:48 AM Thats why i said, "make you own sigil!"
