Some people are very sensetive. I'm a 10 comandments kind of guy, so I try not to say His name in vain.

Life is a joke; Death is the punchline.

I too, am working on breaking that habit. It isn't so much because of the commandment. For me it's more because of the one that says "Honor thy mother and thy father.....". G-d is our father too, and by not taking His name in vain we are in a big way, honoring Him. His name is powerful, and as with all things of great power they should only be used or called upon in times of greatest need, else they lose their power, and the user or caller their reverence for them. Overuse of His sacred name dilutes the proper respect and awe into something less substantial. This allows the adversary a foothold in our spirits. By reestablishing the proper level of respect we return Him to the place of glory and respect in our lives that he deserves. Depriving the Devil of one of his best weapons.

personally i find praying a short prayer for strength works in times that tempt you to take it in vain, it get's his attention in a more positive way, He understands when you genuinly call out to Him, who needs a name when you have a heart and thoughts?

why people need anything more, i grew to not understand...it's like a band aid,  it seems they fail to realize that whatever you feel will get you through haunting times, if you genuinely need...it, it will be there, "leap empty handed into the void" sort of faith, you'll be okay.

that's why reading a bible doesn't always have the affect of driving them out that some people think it would...it's the power in the words that drive them out...if there's no inner power backing those words, no breath of Gd in the lungs...it won't work, it's just ink on thin parchment paper.

...if it's a ghost, ignore it, pay it no mind...don't go seeking it, asking about it, even a thought brings their attention and feeds them...giving them more strength...my daughter was reading a mythology book to me, and she read an interesting line about keeping evil away..."garlic and crosses will keep evil away, but happy thoughts are a better way."  The best way to stay out of trouble is to not do something that will get you into it, and if you get into trouble...call who you trust and trust them to do it.

..."Neither is the "antichrist" some demon possessed super-intelligent human clone. Rather, the "antichrist" is that sweet elderly lady living next door who openly teaches the neighborhood kids that Jesus just was a myth."
