I pledge to Hunt What Has Pledged to Hunt us.

I came across this quote recntly. I consider myself a phylosopher and would like to ask the most intelligent group of people in the world (the monstous people) to tell me their opinion:
Quote: "The First Law of Philosophy: For every philosopher, there exists an equal and opposite philosopher.
The Second Law of Philosophy: They're both wrong."

Also im going to bring this up, for its an oldie but a goody.
"Nobody is right. we are all just wrong in different ways."

okay, you have your topic. now....  3, 2, 1.. HIT IT!

The two "laws" do have some truth.

First, one philosopher will come up with a hypothesis.  Then that philosopher will be met by another philosopher who will counter with an antithesis.  Then another will come and counter both with a synthesis.  Then that philosopher will be countered and the chain goes on and on.

Now how about an actual example to get it through?

Parmenides believed that nothing could change and our senses are completely unreliable.  Heraclitus believed that everything changes (or flows) and that our senses are reliable.  After those two, a third philosopher named Empedocles came and said that nothing changes in its basic form (pure water will be pure water) and that we can rely on our senses.

So, you see a point in this. So do I. Phylosophy is the most self-contradicting business there is, in my opinion.

Although Philosophy is trying to come up with answers to really big questions, everyone is wrong so we never get anywhere!

It is the most frustrating of topics however a most interesting one as it allows people to express their veiws almost 100% without fear of being ridiculed.... much

Philsophy, literally, means "love of wisdom." Philosphers can disagree until the end of time, it's true, but there are plenty of things that can be agreed upon, because they make sense, they're reasonable, and they work. Just the idea that people take the time to actually think their way through the problems of life is refreshing to me.
