I have asked some Christians at school but no one will give me a serious answer.

We think of them as evil and they should be thrown into Hell with their master and practice terrible things that are sinful. Sorry if I offend anyone, but it is the only religion I cannot stand. If you could even call it a religion. From what I have seen on TV one of the rules is if someone bugs you in public tell him to stop, if he doesn't... Destroy him!

I get uncomfortible around any satanist and my parents think they're crazy and will burn in Hell. Preachers pretty much think the same.

I'm Catholic (though somewhat loosely) but I generally have no problem with Satanists, at least the ones who seem to know what they're talking about.  Stricter Christians than me would probably have a problem with it as it does go directly against their teachings.  I for one am a fan of "live and let live".

In general, however, most people I know don't really know too much about Satanism, so they tend to stereotype it as being "evil devil worshipers".  There just tends to be mass confusion about what Satanism really is(even among self-proclaimed Satanists), so it has a pretty bad rap even though there are a lot of people out there who would probably be happy to follow the more reasonable branches of the religion.  Unfortunately, it's unlikely their image will change anytime soon since the media always loves those crazies.  tongue

Well let me just say now. Satan is not a God and you can't expect anything good out of it. Sure he might give you a belt that turns you into an animal or a few extra years of life, but you end up loosing your soul and plunged into eternal damnation of torture and miseray{sp?}. So why worship him?

I do know some things about Satanism. Like how they dont worship Satan directly and that the birthday is the most sacred holiday. But I'm not a Satanist, pretty close but not quite.

You heard of the old story of Jack o' Lantern? Jack did trick the Devil, twice I do believe from what I read of the legend. But then he became bad and Heaven did not want him when he died, the Devil held a grudge and he would not accept him (wow, not accepted into Hell...) So he was forced to live on Earth wonder endlessly. So you can't win if you trick the devil. Sorry if my view on the Devil is bleak. I don't concern myself with the troubles of demons unless it direclty affects my life.  undecided

First of all, the original meaning of santanism is anything that is not of the catholic or related faiths. So that could refer to Paganism as well. And to answer your question, I am perfectly fine with satanists, in fact I am friends with one.

Well M, you certainly put me in MY place, lol. I used to be a practicing Satanist, and I picked up a fact or two along the way. Trust me, Satanism isn't necessarily everything they teach you it is in church. Firstly, Satanism is a RELIGION. The idiots and crazies you see hauled into jail on TV are shams and criminals who participate in CULTS. True Satanists are more akin to Wiccans and Druids than with the filth that molest and sacrifice animals and children. Put a true Satanist in with that bunch and they probably would destroy them all for being evil. Yes, I said that. Real Satanists find Satanic cultists to be disgusting and in most cases sub-human. Ironically, that is just how CHRISTIANITY; the religion that commands its followers to 'judge not', views Satanists. If there is a Satanist here on the Forum who would like to call me a liar on any point I've brought up about Satanism, feel free.

Thanks for beating me to the punch explaining true Satanists.  I always feel weird attempting to explain the religion when I'm Christian myself.

A lot of people don't even seem to know when they have Satansist friends because their friends are too afraid to speak up about their religion.  I've had a couple admit it to me, though they were terrified I'd persecute them because I'm Catholic.  Luckily Satanists seem to be fairly common in the realms of the supernatural (oddly enough, most of the ones I know also claim to be vampires) so I already did some research on the religion and was able to accept it.  I'm actually really suprised there aren't more around on these boards.  I suppose it isn't easy admitting to believe in something that has such a negative stigma attached to it.

I've been labeled and stigmatized ever since I was born. With that in mind, what's a few new ones?

The Satanists I know most likely lived much more sheltered lives.  I grew up in an area that was much like Pleasantville, so kids were much more sensitive about those sort of things.  I can understand how your experiences could be very different than that.  I'm mostly just trying to make the point that Satanism has an undeserved bad reputation and a false image associated with it, so many people get offended at the mention of Satanism when they really don't understand what it is.

So I repect the fact that everyone has a different point of veiw on this, but all in all I'm against religion in geral. I have no religion myself, neither does my father. My grandmother in te other hand is a Jeovah Witness and never missed the chance to tell me that God'll destroy all evil including me, what I mean is the people I love when joining something change into monsters, things are never the same and it reminds me of brainwash. Actually, everyone who hates my guts are jesus-freaks, coincidence? I have a ton of Satanist pals who never bothered me, I have nothing against them. Not every Satanist is evil, not every priest is kind, there're still possibilities to everything.

Satanists, Wiccan, Pagan, if they're evil, what about the blokes who caused the executions of innocent people in the Witch Hunts in the 16th century. It was all done in the will of God,  but to be true they said it was, and they made it clear to us that God is peaceful. When can only guess, if God is good, it isn't likly that the people who reclaims to follow him certainly is not, not all of them anyways.

Thinking ill of Satanists is like hating and avoiding a person because they are black or gay, it all brings to back to prejuice. (Unless if it's someones intentions to cause you harm, it's neither they're fake Satanists or just plain bonkers who are tricked into thinking they are.)

Tell you what, I am honestly more scared of large community-centered Baptist churches than I am of Satanists.  There always seems to be those two sections of groups, the regular (average) member of the group, and the "weirdo" part of the group.  By "weirdo," I mean completely detrimental to society and the well-bieng of others in the general vincinity.  The reason that Baptists scare me more, is the simple fact that there are so many more of them, so a higher number of them are "weird", and being in a majority position, they tend not to lurk in the shadows and be more up front.  no to mention the fact that for some unknown reason, a lot of Baptists tend to dislike me, but that's another story in itself.

By the way, I am a Christian and consider myself highly spiritual.  I belong to the UCC, but the church I belong to is a family church, so is on the extremely conservative side of the UCC, so I kinda fall somewhere in the middle of everything.
