The question was " What makes you a vampyr" so it would not be why you think you are, but why you are one... I hope I was clear now. And Alexander, where did you dissapeare for so long? I missed you!  Its good to see that blood track section wont be forgoten now that I moved, and dont have internet for now. Welcome back!

Hmmm, hard one, I just always have been, at least in this life. I don't know about past lives, so to speak. I know that I am by several reasons, I can literally smell the difference between a healthy individual and a sick one, whether that fact is obvious or not. My father was the same way as I am, only he had a coven. (Back in the 60's and 70's of course) I am extremely sensitive to sunlight, not that I burn or anything like that, just that sunlight is painful to my eyes, because of several secondary pupils inside my irises besides the main one that open and close. Sunlight seems almost painfully hot on my skin. I am alway hungry, and no food will satiate me. etc, etc. I guess that I am because I have always known that I was. How do you explain that? It is like describing color to someone that was born blind.

But what satisfieds your hunger then?

How do you feed?

ps: my boyfriend was really shocked to see me eat a raw stake, the smell of blood making me dizzy and want more, ashamed for his look when he was looking at me... really funny... ok, Im hungry now

any kind of dead meat is just that, dead. teh blood is dead and carries no mana. Living blood is where it's at. I get sustenence from human energy, (energy vamp) but also, the river of life (the blood) is a good way to get mana and satisfy cravings. Even a little bit will help, as long as it is living blood. But never autofeed. Taking blood from yourself never stops the beast. Also, never bite. If someone get hurt (not to mention infection and that a bite does not heal right.) the authorities can identify teeth marks or injuries from dental records.  The urge to bite may be strong, but the best way is a hypodermic needle, (if you know how to use one) I will not explain another way of feeding, but it is purely sexual, if you get my drift. In that way, mana is built to the breaking point, then released and the cravings stop for a while. I know that that is disgusting to some, and potentially dangerous if the partner is not healthy. Get a willing donor, and reward them well, for they sustain you. Gifting is key, but never give money in return.  My sweet male therian was a willing healthy donor, and he loved my feedings. He often came to me, wanting to give me his blood. Others actually offered to open a vein for me. I had plenty of donors, but I could smell that not all were healthy. The hand is a good source, as the tiny network of veins bleeds well, and healing is fast. Never take from any artery, they could bleed to death. I hope that this helps. Oh by the way, therian blood is the tastiest.

Yes, I can also agree that dead blood aint  got what it takes to feed me, but, I just had to taste blood and not cooking it all the way trough somewhat did the job. Although, I must say that when you succeed to find a willing donor, you probably wont have to deal with hunger that I felt, and also I agree with sexual feeding part, cause it somewhat reduces the hunger. But only to a certain point. I have the luck of being with someone who understands my needs, so Im kind of proud to say that he gave me to feed on him some couple of days ago. Hm, maybe that is why I dont feel cranky any more?

We agreed to make it a ritual, once per week on saturnal saturday, we feed!

To Moloch: It seems that Im liberating my vamp self finnaly (and truly). No more stealing from people while I travel to work!

Brava.

Congratulations on sounding like a role-playing game.

Now now, no role player here. Mana is the Wiccan term for energy, and I am also a witch.

It is more commonly used in Role Playing games nowadays though. So rhaven's use of the term; regardless of her intent, makes her sound like a RPGer.

I am aware of the definition of mana and its meanings, but the most common connotation is that of roleplaying games.  No serious witch that I have ever encountered has used the term mana, as its original meaning has all but faded.  And just for your information, mana mentioned in the bible does not refer to the magickal mana, but a type of food provided by god that was given to the Jews escaping Egypt under Moses.  There is a large difference.

Okay, wayyyy off subject here. lol. All hostile sniping aside, I have never been a gamer. Life is interesting enough that I do not require it. Allright, lets just say something like....um...Animus Energy. Unlike ordinary energy that quickly comes and goes, say like caffeinne highs, Animus is actually the root life force, and that sustains you for much longer than any other sort of boost that you may get. We require Animus energy, some get it from blood (along with the sensory satisfaction (wink wink) or you can draw it from another's breath, eyes, or simply being in close proximity. Everyone feels that they need a donor for blood, which is true, healthy donors are hard to find, unlike my sweet therian (lost now *sniff*). He was rather easy as he came to me without me having to say a word about it. rather uncanny if you ask me. Truly, if you have a blood craving as I do, and can get sick without it at that point in your life, as I was, then you do require a donor. Living blood is key. At this time, I personally gather the energy I need from being around others, though they seem to always be tired around me, which is a little annoying as I love vibrant people. But that is not their fault, it's mine. So, back to subject, okay? Sorry for the ramble...

This is a strange situation, where I have to agree with both Raven and Alexander.

true, mana is an rpg word simulation, and therefore ones that use that ... name... tend to look like a wannabe. Mana is known trough all the history (in christian and jewish religion) as the stuff that fell down when chosen ones were hungry. Blessed is the G-d!!!

also, mana is the best way to describe the life force energy that is holded in blood, cause blood is what makes us alive. All, without an exception. Not even Jesus (G-d forgive me for mentioning that name, cause I AM a  sinner) could not survive the loss of it.

we can call it mana or whatever, cause we dont always use blood (some only sometimes, and some cannot be without it) to feed ourselves. As I alreday said in some posts, that same "mana energy" can also be provided by sexual act, or just being by someone, and absorbing it. True, it is not enough, but sometimes it helps.

So, call it "mana" or whatever, if you use other peoples energy, be it in sexual act, suckin someones blood, or just absorbing their "aura", it all comes to the same thing.

You are a Vampyr, my fellow kin.

I find it interesting you find most ideas that conflict your own to be insults.  Put a helmet on.
