Anne Rice, as always, has the ability to transport the reader to another time,another place, one that is filled with demons and angels.

You see all this unfold thru the the eyes of the vampire.

Vittorio Di Riniari witnesses the slaughter of his family by a band of vampires, fleeing his home he seeks vengance.

In Vittorios journey for vengance, he is seduced by the beautiful "Strega" Ursula, his desire for revenge and Ursula leads him into a decent into religions darkest side....and the world of the "Undead"
