Hellow everyone.  I'll start off by saying that I'm new here and that I have complete trust in that someone here can help me with the problem I have.
So here it is,
Ever since I first remember myself, always around the end of August I get a terrible nightmare. It happens every night for a week or two. I always dream the same thing and wake up in the end screaming or crying and too scared to sleep for the rest of the night. I'm not going to say what the nightmare is about, exept for the very end of it but I can tell you this; The nightmare combines the most horrible things I've experienced in my life with my worst fears. I'll also add that August is an important month in my life since in that month I met my best friend. My father also died in August and 3 very good friends of mine commited suicide in August. So that month has meaning to me.
In the end of the nightmare I'm in a field that is not hot or cold. Not bright but still not dark. Above me shines a black sun and the field I'm standing in is just barren waistland. Exept that the field is covered with barbwire and it's all bloddy. Plus that all around me I see gallows in which everyone I love have been hanged in. I try to run but fall to the ground and into tha barbwire,... Then when I try to move, I suddenly can't.  That's usually where I wake up but last year my dream went a bit longer, It was as my head was forced up and before me stood a black shaddow with red eyes looking right at me. I woke up right after that just because my brother was shaking me, because I was screaming my lungs out in my sleep. I was so scared when I woke up that I couldn't sleep for the next few days, I was too afraid of my dream,... So now I've decided to get help!
Anyways, the problem I have is how to get rid of this dream, or how to stop being afraid of it. I can't stand this anymore and since this only seems to get worse every year I really don't want to go through this once more,...
I would appreciate it greatly if anyone can even help the slightest bit,..
Hoping to get some advices soon.

Hi Sever

Of course there will be no instant answers or "silver bullets".
One area that I would be interested in starting with is to ask you if you have ever read up, studied, or worked on the subject of "lucid dreaming"? Which is when you are in a dream and you acually realise that you are dreaming. To become concious inside your dreams? That can be a good way to start with all this because you can start to learn how to have some control over your dream/dreams.

Hope this is at least a start and that we hear back from you soon.

I am sorry this is happening to you. It really sucks when your dreams turn against you, I know. I have to experience my own. You must confront it, so I agree with Vivid here.

Sounds more like a prediction than a dream. Do research on FEMA.

Thanks for answering me,
To  vivid777:  I have heard of lucid dreaming, and yes in my dream I am completely aware of myself and I can think just like I am awake. And I also remember everything I thought when I wake up,,  the problem's just that I can't do anything different in the dream from before, it's just always the same... So I can't really control anything that happens, for an example at one stage in my dream I want to run away but instead I walk closer to take a look at something. Even though I'm thinking, no dont go there, get away, I don't want to see this,..
To nina: I'm not sure it's a prediction, I mean,.. I've dreamt this my whole life... And it's always the same and some things in my dream have already happened... But it might be a prediction of some sort, but if it is I can't understand it or find any meaning in it,
hope to hear more soon

Hi again Sever.

I have not got much time right now, so I will get into more detail for you in the next day or two.
Tybalt could be right in that there may be something you need to confront, as you have said that you do not have control over your actions in the dream,
The trick to start exercising lucid dreaming, is first, because the dream is always exactly the same, that you can meditate, for want of a better word at the moment, well in advance, training yourself, so that next time you have that dream, inside the dream you will instantly recognise it, like, "oop, here I am at the start of this wierd dream again", and actually recognise that you are dreaming straight away. Once you have achieved this you will find that you will have more freedom and powers than in ordinary waking life. You can practice daily meditation on how you would like to respond when the dream occurs again, and visualise what you want to do and how you would like to take action to get out of that dream situation. This way it will not just be like "oh no, here I am again", you will have a prepared plan of action. the key to using this succesfully is to keep running the dream and your desired plan of action in your mind at the same time, while you are awake, usually meditating. The more you practice this, the more quickly you will recognise the dream when it occurs again, and you will be able to act faster and more decisively straight away. This will be the key to your success and prevailing over the dream.

Sorry this was a bit fast and garbled,
Good luck and I will get back to you more thoroughly soon.
You can message me if you have any specific questions you would like me to answer.

I think you guys might be right about maybe needing to confront something, I'm just not sure what...
I think I'll try the lucid dreaming stuff,... I just need to meditate about the dream and what I'm going to do in it?  Can't read all to clearly what to do from your answer Tongue

Well, if you think you need to confront something, there's no reason to have to confront it in that way, in such a torturous dream. You can just constantly tell the back of your mind to bugger off if it wants to put you through that, and tell it if it has any "lesson" for you, to give it to you in a dream with a teacher writing it down on a blackboard or something. Remember, you control your mind and you do not have to take any s**t from your dreams. As for the lucid dreaming bit, you can even just "nuke" the whole dream if you want. Imagine yourself wearing your watch in the dream, then imagine when you press the face of the watch, it makes a nuke zip down out of the sky and blow the whole crappy dream scene to smitherines, and then it fading away into a beautiful sunny beach scene with you sipping on a pina colada or something. That black sun sounds like a really good symbol, when you see that in your dream again you will instantly know it is not the real sun and you can nuke the dream then. Just remember to keep visualising this scene every day now, and nuking it if that's what you decide to do, hell you can choose anything you want to get rid of it. Do this visualisation as much as you can every day, even and especially during the "dream season" and make sure you remember to wear that watch to bed every night so that you know you have it in the dream.

I hope this helps a bit more Alexis.

Hi Sever, sounds kind of nasty.

I think that there has been some good advice offered so far.

However in addition I have some experience in emotional change work. Its not always the answer to every problem but it can offer completely new ways of experiencing things. That alone is often enough to turn a problem into an opportunity.

Having said that most people usually have issues with their waking state. This has got me scratching my head a little. I'm sure it just needs a little ingenuity!

So I've got a few questions for you.
Have you ever had these sensations/emotions whilst being awake?
Do you think (if you really wanted to) you could get into the same mood whilst awake?
Im not saying that you should just yet, I just want to know if you think you could.

Forgive me in advance if I am slow responding back. I am very busy just now.

your subconscious mind is associating that week with the horrible things that have happened, that could explain why you only have the dreams at that point in time, it's hard to heal when you lose so much, your conscious can convince your self you have, however we have no control over our subconscious mind.

nothing a good grief counselor couldn't solve in my opinion...
