Things Are Not As They Seem

« on: July 24, 2008, 10:20:11 PM »

This is a topic that I have set up for oldbill4823.

odbill4823 has asked me to set up this thread for the discussion of ideas on the subject of his dream spire.

olbill4823 would like a suitable place for the discussion of his ideas as there is no other obvious place for this on the site.

Hi all.

I have a dream.

Its something that has been growing for a while.

Imagine all the members of this forum doing something spectacular. A real live ongoing experiment worthy of all our 'wierdness' and 'unique' attitudes to life. Something magical, supernatural and yet real.

How effectively do you think we can dream together?

I dont just mean imagination here, I am on about actually interacting together in the dream world.   Before you answer the question fully, take a look around this forum. Have a look at the people who come here. There are members from all around the world. Ordinary people, sensitives, shapeshifters, dreamers, magicians, the curious, the completely mad. A truly spectacular mix.

There is enough creative energy here to light up the moon. Wouldn't you just love the ability to tap into this massive current and be able to use it like a springboard, to catapult yourself into other dimensions and areas previously unknown.

The idea of a dreaming spire is an attempt to capture, focus, amplify, and then use this raw talent.
Instead of a forum that just spoke about stuff we could have a forum that actually lived this stuff, together. The critics, skeptics, and general naysayers would be left way way below, hanging on to their precious cynicisms, eating their own bitterness. We the true explorers of the unknown would be beyond the perimeter, over the edge, amongst the stars.

What I outline above is a sensation or the creative mood  that underlines the idea of building a collective 'dreaming spire'. There are a few of us here on the forum who have some ideas about how to actually build such a thing.  But I think that specific part of the topic will present itself later. There are other things that must come first.

So I'll end this first post with a question.

If such a thing was created what would you use it for?

Write down anything that comes into your head, get wild, challenge yourself, scare your imagination, press reply.

LET THE BUILDING COMMENCE.

In dreams, ob1.

Guys, this is something worthy of admire. I really like this idea, and hope that it will work. No, I know it will work. Why?

Cause, it happened more than once that I had a dream about some members, and that members told me they had a dream of me as well, at the same time, and ussually about same stuff. DV isnt here any more to comfirm this, but it happened. And sometimes it happened with some of you I dont even know who they are, but I suspected that they are from here, cause I dont know any other place people would be open and high enough to reach it. Once I had been eating chocolate with one of you guys, and we had a really nice and long talk, and thank you for it.

So, Im into this, and Ill do my research on techniques!

Nina, you have more 'cool' than the artic wind.

This is exactly what I am talking about .

This is exactly the sort of stuff I would love to share amongst us all.

I too have dreamt of forum members. Vivid and Raz to be exact.

(I'd like to say I have dreamt of you but I think that was just a fantasy.)

Well I'm enjoying the idea of this topic on dreaming, for I too have dreamed of Monstrous; only a single time but it was clear and welcoming unlike any of my other dreams.
The dream was about the members gathering together in a sort of medieval-style place lit by candles and chairs were scattered among the place, and everyone was laughing and talking in deep conversation, several oddballs with exotic body art or with abilities/physical attributes that made them unique, some wearing robes with their hoods on (mostly men being mysterious) and it was sort of guessing who was who by details such as personality, age and where they were from, in my dream I looked around (must've been some thirty attending the reunion) and what happened is that I'd see people and think "That's ------, I recognize those words." or "That must be ------, I know it is." This for those who I haven't seen pictures of before, those I have I greeted them instantly. This wonderful dream had occurred more than half a year or two ago, so some of the members present in that time were in it.

I am thrilled about your dream SA.

Let me tell you a little about the history of this project and you might understand why.

Dream Spire history part 1

I live in a very old house. Its late Medieaval, early rennaissance. Surprisingly, no one really knows much about the history of the place. Experts believe that it is either the last remaining part of a chateau, or  a 'gentiehommerie', a gentlemans house/manoir dating from this period. This area of France is littered with Templar buildings and history so it is possible that this house was also a Templar structure. In fact the house is about 1 hour from 'La Rochelle' where the last Templars were reported to have dissappear from with all their treasure.

The front of the house has a stone tower on the front. Inside the tower is a stone spiral staircase giving access to the main rooms. Some of the treads are so worn with 600 years of human traffic they are completely 'dished'.
It amazing to think of the history held within the stone here. The amazing changes they have been witness to.

It is believed that the tower had its point cut off during the French revolution several hundred years ago. Since coming to live here it has always been my dream to restore the house to something approaching its former glory. This has meant rebuilding the tower point.

For several years I have been researching and visiting towers across the region. Looking at techniques and styles of construction. Angles, designs, materials, heights, etc. All are really important to get right.
Earlier this year I started the work on the 'charpente', the main wooden structure that forms the tower.

It has been a complex structure to create. Although it is a two sloped cone on the exterior, its internal frame has 24 sides. One for each hour of the day. It has four main supports, which correspond with the seasons, etc etc. A central octagonal post which forms the axis for the structure 'floats', so that it only touches the cross beams beneath it.

The more I thought about it the more I realised that the tower construction had started to become a piece of 'poetry' and 'imagination'. In fact, equally as much as a a piece of architectural engineering. Before long I was literally dreaming about it. It was at that moment that I realised how a physical structure could capture and focus the attention of dreams.

Thats why I really loved reading about your dream. You can draw your own conclusions about it. However, one thing I am sure of is that the more attention we place upon 'dreaming', the more we will become concious within them.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to dream 'ensemble'? We could all add our 'dreaming mass' together. Then the fun would really begin.

In my next post I want to write about the influence of a secret living tradition of French 'artisans' had on the 'dreaming spire'. Its a guild whose unbroken lineage dates back over 1500 years. Dan Brown has nothing on this and its all true.

Truly artful,

the power of our minds, the creation of a super psy battery....... video game magic is going to be a reality..... we stand at the threshold. Dragons and Chimeras...... I will join you in this grand experiment. Let the dream take reality for another ride!

My sword and my fists are at the ready............ but how does the image translate?......... fish oil for neuron formation. haha!

Raz,

I know my posts can be a bit 'loose' sometimes but yours are a genre unto themselves.

I think the closest I can get to it is 'pop mystic'  (with a definite chivalric influence)

When you say that 'video game magic is going to be a reality', yep it really can be.

There is a famous quote in the Western Magic Tradition that says 'imagination is the ass that carries the ark'.

Chinese medicine and philosophy also has the theory of 'mind, chi, spirit.'  It says virtually the same thing.

So it all starts with pooling our imagination towards a common point.  Letting rip with the mental stuff inside.

The diagram is Vivids input. I just liked all the pretty colours and arrows.

I did once believe Vivid when he says he knew about physics and stuff. He even told me he had read Carl Sagans last book, 'The bluffers guide to being clever'.

Then he went and ruined the effect with his second suggestion of the ice cream cone.

Hmm... the ice cream cone could work...... especially if it happened to be placed there overnight, people would look up and remember it due to surprise., thereby giving a common point for their dreams to intersect, problem is its too vague a thought, not enough people would be able to  focus on it........

do you think this produce a second bushman "dreamtime" if enough people started "Dreaming?"

Yes It could .

Vivid could tell his grandchildren about about the 'ice cream dreamings', an aboriginal creation story.

Ayres rock could have new ice cream drawings smeared across it. I can see him there now talking to his grandchildren (the mini-vivids) "Now then little cobbers, this one is called Raspberry ripple serpent dreaming".

Meanwhile focus

s**t, girl, I was there!!! I had that one too! And I thought it was cause I spend too much time here!!!

That dream is exactly the one that inspired me to write that last sentence in my " If you were God" post!!!

This is weird, and I loooove it!!!

And it shows that this experiment could not only work, but it already has!!!

And I have one thing to add: if we want to connect easier with each other, the easiest way would be to connect through pictures of ourselves. I know that works for sure, and we will know when it happens. Just an idea.....
