Life is a joke; Death is the punchline.

Have you heard of the Pleistocene Rewilding Project? A bunch of scientists are planning on setting aside a large area in the central US to release imported animals into the wild, including cheetahs, hyenas, lions, wild Asian horses, Asian elephants, and bactrian camels. All of these animals, or their close relatives, lived in North American until relatively recently in history, but were wiped out by the Native Americans.

Actually, this Pleistocene Rewilding Project appears to be moving forward. If memory serves me correctly, Ted Turner just bought hundreds of thousands of acres of ranch land out there recently. He currently owns millions of contiguous acres too.

I would want a sabertooth especially since I just watched 10,000 BC and that bad ass "speartooth"  in there just plain rocks. I've always been  kind of fond them anyway  wink

Only if I could be friends with it like he was in that movie. It cracked me up when he told it not to eat him.  jester

Really?
Excellent! I'm hoping I get to see it come to fruition within my lifetime.

Snakes are my favorite animals.  I have always loved reptiles and have handled them since I could run around outside.  Looking back, I am amazed that I have never gotten bitten by any reptile I have caught.  Well, except for the ones that I annoyed enough because I wanted them to bite me.  I love anole earrings jester

But if I science could do it, I would love to see some dire wolves.

 jester jester

I love snakes, but I've never really been around them, so they creep me out a bit. Growing up, all I could have was fish and lizzards, so I'm pretty used to the reptiles and such. I was always bringing some critter home and just feeding it.. watching it.. Man... I still do that!  jester I didn't get my first fluffy pet until I was 23.

I want one of those chicken-sized raptors.   I would have so much fun with that thing.  ^___^  My heart warms at the thought.
