Avengers film to feature Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Captain America, and ThorWith Iron Man kicking butt at the box office, Marvel Studios has announced its upcoming slate of superhero films through 2011 – including an Iron Man sequel, Thor, Captain America, and The Avengers! Variety reports Marvel is planning to get Iron Man back for another adventure by April 30, 2010. The film will be followed by Thor on June 4. The First Avenger: Captain America will hit theaters May 6th, 2011 followed by a film based on The Avengers in July, 2011. The Avengers film (which is being written by Zak Penn) will feature Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Captain America, and Thor. Paramount is scheduled to distribute all of the films as part of its deal with Marvel Studios. Marvel Studios is predicting another big splash at the box office when its next self-financed film The Incredible Hulk hits the big screen on June 13. Universal is distributing the film. A film based on Marvel’s Ant-Man is also in development with Edgar Wright attached to write and direct, The film has yet to be dated. In Variety, Marvel Studios chairman David Maisel stated: "This is clearly a transformative time for Marvel. It was important for us to get much more control of our destiny and the ability to greenlight and make these movies on a predictable basis." |
