Platinum Studios, Top Cow Productions and Arclight Films have announced plans to bring the comic book babe sporting a magical gauntlet to the big screen with a live-action feature film adaptation of the “Witchblade” comic book series.

Variety reports the film will follow the tale of an ornate jewel-encrusted gauntlet that gives extraordinary powers to the wearer – which is a woman chosen from each generation.

Witchblade had a somewhat successful run on television with a two season series on TNT in 2000. The series featured Yancy Butler as Det. Sara "Pez" Pezzini (the original character to wear the Witchblade in the comic series) and David Chokachi as Jake McCartey (her partner).

Shooting on the new film is scheduled to take place in Australia.
