Columbia Pictures has picked up the comedy pitch "Mythological Veterinarian" that will be written by Andrew Kurtzman and produced by Jimmy Miller. Variety reports the comedy follows a veterinarian recruited by a secret society in charge of caring for the world's mythological creatures. The deal is the second comedy Miller has put in Columbia’s care in the past two weeks. Miller and Judd Apatow sold the studio on an untitled comedy that will feature Sacha Baron Cohen as Sherlock Holmes and Will Ferrell as Dr. Watson. The comedy is being written by Etan Cohen ("Tropic Thunder"). In addition to his writing duties on "Mythological Veterinarian," Kurtzman is working on a finalized version of the script for his "Sober Buddies" - which Universal picked up as a vehicle for Jim Carrey. Scott Stuber and Michael Peyser are producing that film with Principal Entertainment's Danny Sherman executive producing. |
