Cover Art to Top Cow\'s Witchblade #41 “Battlestar Galactica" vet Michael Rymer has signed to direct and co-produce the big screen adaptation of the hit Top Cow comic "Witchblade." Variety reports the film follows a female chosen to wear the mystical gauntlet called the Witchblade – which gives the wearer magical powers. The film is a co-production between Platinum Studios, Top Cow Prods. and Arclight Films. Rymer has directed 20 episodes and produced 40 episodes of the Sci-Fi Channel’s hit series "Battlestar Galactica" and is currently shooting the series’ finale. He has also finished up work on “Revolution” – a pilot for NBC Universal Media Studios and the Sci-Fi Channel. Rymer will also handling producing duties on the film with Arclight's Gary Hamilton and Nigel Odell, Platinum Studios' Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and Steve Squillante of Havenwood Media. Top Cow's Marc Silvestri and Matt Hawkins are handling executive producing duties with Platinum Studios' Rich Marincic and Greenberg Group's Randy Greenberg. "Witchblade" has a loyal following in the comic market with more than 100 million copies sold since its worldwide debut in 1995. The comic has also been spun into a television series (which lasted for two seasons on TNT), an anime series in Japan, and a toy line. |
